Desert Cubs Cricket Academy All-rounder Kulith Rabel came up with a mesmerizing spell of off-spin bowling to skittle out five of the Unique Cricket Training Centre batsmen for just 9 runs restricting them to 110 runs which his team knocked off quite easily in the Cricket for Care Under 15 Inter Academy tournament sponsored by Shyam Bhatia and conducted by Dubai Cricket Council at the Sevens cricket grounds.
Kulith was the eight bowler to be tried after UCT openers Ahmed Jamil 42, and Daniyal 31, were coasting having put on 82 runs for the opening partnership. Kulith bowled 3 overs and he picked up both the openers with a wicket in his first over followed by two wickets in his second and third over to prise out the entire top order to finish with amazing figure of 3 overs, 9 runs and 5 wickets to rightly win the man of the match award.
Renaldi Dias was not far behind as he bowled his leg spinners to telling effect bagging three wickets for four runs to wrap up the tail. Renaldi 27, and Zafri Zafardeen another upcoming star made 36 runs with four boundaries to race past the target in 13.3 overs to win by 9 wickets.
Kuliths father Chaminda Rabel said, ‘I am very happy to see Kulith doing very well with his cricket and coming up with good performances consistently In all the cricket he plays. I am thankful to Presley Polonowita and Indika Batuwitarachi his Coach and mentor for guiding and training him so well. Although he started off as a medium pacer all-rounder, Indika though he would be better at bowling off-spin and the results have been fantastic.’
Young Talent Cricket Academy’s Shiv Mehra once again played a match winning knock scoring an attractive 60 runs against Maxway Institute for Cricket Training. He played 58 balls hitting four boundaries to take his team to 152 runs. Oswin Crasta bowled well for Max way to bag three wickets. Max way had only one partnership to show in their innings between Jeeesh Gangwani who made 22 runs and Achyuth Baiju was unfortunately run-out for a well made 31 runs as the pair played with great responsibility. No sooner were they out Mehul, Shiv and the other spinners bowled them out for 108 runs and win by 44 runs.
MCC - Zayed Academy’s Mohammed Riyan and Moiz Qazi dazzled with the bat as they put on 117 runs for the first wicket against Young Talent cricket Academy. Riyan made 75 runs hitting four boundaries while Moiz rattled off 58 runs in 47 balls with four hits to the fence to help their team to 150 runs. In reply YTCA chased well but fell short by just three runs. Shiv Mehra continued with his excellent batting performances in this tournament to once again top score with 48 runs.
Mohammed Afzal made 20 runs while Mehul Dhakkan rallied with 26 runs along with Arshaq who made 10 runs but just fell short by 3 runs.
